Today was our first day training for the North Strabane 5k which is about 4.5 or 5 months away. This leaves plenty of time to ease into running and prevent injury or push too hard starting off making it harder than it really needs to be.
To get started we did a walk/run interval workout.
- 1/4 mile brisk walk followed by stretching
- 1/4 mile brisk walk
- 1/4 mile easy jog
- 1/4 mile brisk walk
- 1/4 easy jog
- 1/4 mile brisk walk
HOMEWORK:
Twice in week 1 - Visit a local track.
- Brisk walk for one lap and then stretch.
- One lap brisk walk.
- One lap easy jog.
- One lap brisk walk.
- One lap easy jog.
- One lap walking as cool down and then stretch.
